Concentrating at work today was nearly impossible. I was too excited to do website maps and the copy I wrote was pathetic. My head is swimming with questions -- will I keep the blisters at bay? Did I pack the right things, and what will the weather do?

The Grand Floral Parade is tomorrow in Portland, so historically it should be cold and rainy. The forecast calls for sun... guess we'll see.

Jim McLaren from KEX radio in Portland did a story on the Climb it's a great little tidbit and it's always fun to work with Jim. But why did he have to ask me if I was worried about accidents and asthma on the climb?!

I think a phone call I received on the drive up will reverse any jinx brought on by Jim's questions.  My old friend Tony Mason rang. I missed his call and called him back thinking I'd be playing a game of phone tag. But he answered. It's been 6 months since we last spoke, and that's not all that unusual. We've known each other for more than 20 years (wow that's an odd thing to say!) and despite the fact that we don't speak frequently we never skip a beat it's as if we are oddly tethered together always knowing when the other needs a call. And this was no different -- Tony's mom was an amazing women with tremendous passion and verve. She was unsuccesful in beating breast cancer. When I answered the phone and told him where I was going and why we both new why we managed to connect today.
